This tournament began in 2006, by the Gilbertson family to memorialize their brother, Keith. In the first five years the family raised funds to establish a scholarship in Keith’s name at Superior High School. The scholarship is awarded annually to a male and female hockey player. Once the scholarship fund reached a point of endowment, the Gilbertson family graciously passed the tournament on to SAHA to be used as a fundraising vehicle for the association. 

SAHA continues to donate to the Keith Gilbertson scholarship from the fundraiser proceeds, and over the past years has used the funds to: upgrade the sounds system, purchase jerseys, sponsor teams, bring events to the rink and purchase a Zamboni, (just to name a few things).
