The Gilby is a senior hockey tournament held in March/April at SAHA. Proceeds from this tournament go right to SAHA, which in turn helps ALL SAHA members. Each team is asked to make a $100 donation towards the KGT silent auction. The donation can be cash or something with $100 value.
This tournament began in 2006, by the Gilbertson family to memorialize their brother, Keith. In the first five years the family raised funds to establish a scholarship in Keith’s name at Superior High School. The scholarship is awarded annually to a male and female hockey player. Once the scholarship fund reached a point of endowment, the Gilbertson family graciously passed the tournament on to SAHA to be used as a fundraising vehicle for the association.
Over the past five years the rink has used the funds to: upgrade the sounds system, purchase jerseys, sponsor teams, bring events to the rink and purchase a Zamboni (just to name a few things).
